The game will re-create the files but you will need to re-select your game settings once the game starts. Remove & backup the 8 files inside this location so the folder is empty and try to start the game.
The saved user game data is located here > c:/users/xxx/nascar heat 5/save data. Remove the NH5 game save user files and the CTD is typically fixed. The common fix that has been reported has been the following > In rare cases, some users have experienced a Crash To Desktop error during game startup after properly installing the Mod files. If you have an existing Career/Championship mode ongoing, this will have to be reset for the game to recognize all of the Career/Championship Mode changes and avoid possible games crashes. The same AI paint schemes from Atlanta1 will race in Atlanta2 and the same AI paint schemes from Darlington1 will race in Darlington2. The paint schemes for Atlanta2 and Darlington2 will be available to race only as a user but will not be visible for AI paints when racing the 2nd Atlanta and Darlington races.
